I'm ready to go on vacation. Who want to get a boat and come with me? I'm serious here. Party on a boat before the summer is out. I need one bad. I'm working all the time on Talk Soup and writing none stop. My brain needs a break, I don't want to think I just want to do. Even if it's something dumb.

I've been surfing pretty much all my life,since I was born and raised on a small island. But, once, when I was in ninth grade, my brother and I were out late one night on a private beach that only us locals would know about, and the waves started coming in too fast. My brother was closer to the shore so he was fine but I was a little too far out to rush back and got caught up in the extremely bad wave I had no control over. I ended up crashing into a cluster of rocks and snapping my first board. Half of the board washed right into my back and crushed me up against the rocks again. I remember trying to push myself back with my feet at the same time, and that wasn't so smart as I felt my ankle twist against the rocks. I don't know how but I managed to cling to the rocks for what seems like hours, in the most pain I ever felt, before my brother could finally come and get me. Talk about scared and all I could do was say I'm not going to die. not here, not right now.
It was about another year before I could get back on a board, every time I would try I'd get these flashbacks of me getting taken under and thrown against the rocks all over again. I would turn pale and freeze up and just stay on the beach, while my brother went back out without me. So what did I do?
I wrote.
I wrote funny stories about my brother getting eaten by a sharks or stung by jellyfish. It was funny to me and at the end I would find some way to save him. My family loved the stories so I kept it up till I got over my fear of the waves. Thanks to my brother who hated my stories had hatched a plan to get me surfing again. He waited till it was late again and people were leaving the beach. I was getting annoyed because no matter how hard or loud I yelled he kept surfing. Then I saw him go under and he didn't come back up. I was freaking out and there was no one but me on the beach. So I grabbed my new board that I couldn't get myself to use before and made my way out to where he went under. I jumped in the water I fought the waves looking and yelling for him. Only to see him waving back at me from the beach safe and sound. I got over my fear of the water that day, but I never did get over the feeling of how I thought I lost my brother. Which he says was the he felt that night I got hurt, of course I had to kill him for faking such a thing. Many many ears of payback that he still never regrets, yet I thank him in a way for helping me to surf again.
Still with out that fear I would have never found my other love in life and that is writing.
Surfing and Writing is my life.
